IMPHAL, Aug 11: Reacting to news reports about domestic violence meted out to Khwairakpam Nirupama, the woman’s husband Hijam Swamikanta of Khurkhul clarified today that all the allegations pointing at him and his family were false and fabricated.

Swamikanta while talking to mediapersons during a press meet held today said that he had never abandoned her in the first place, adding it was just a normal routine that Nirupama happens to stay at their parental home for her convenience owing to her treatment (psychiatric problem).

However, on June 26, 2007, Nirupama’s parental family came to him asking for her to stay with them until she was cured properly and she was sent away as pleaded by her family. Since then, Nirupama never returned till date despite several attempts made to call her back which were turned down.

Further, as far as the incident involving gunmen, he and his family has nothing to do with it, said Swamikanta. Moreover, the story of harassment was baseless and it never had happened during the period Nirupama was with him.

However, Nirupama’s family took up a legal case against him after reports of eloping with another woman which according to him was arranged by his family, which is still pending till date.
