Manipur excel in national armwrestling championship

IMPHAL, Aug 7: On the third day of the 34th national armwrestling championship, Manipur continue to bag medals including the gold.  In the handicapped competition, Dinesh Kumar of Punjab won gold in the 60kg category while David H Thangliana of Mizoram and Y Shyam Kumar of Manipur bagged silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the 70kg category handicapped competition Ram SIngh of Chattisgarh won gold while S Arun and Th Joy both of Manipur bagged silver and bronze respectively.

In the 90kg handicapped competition, Chandan Behara of Orissa defeated Satbeer Singh of Uttaranchal to bagged the gold while Mohan Sharma of Delhi took the bronze.

In the 90+kg category handicapped competition, Daljeet Singh and Sharanpal Singh of both of Uttarkhand bagged the gold and silver medal respectively while the bronze medal was bagged by GG George of Kerala.
In other competitions held today, Aboklin Rina of Meghalaya won gold in the 70kg senior women category while L Joymati of Manipur and Rasami Renu Guru won silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the 80kg senior women competition S Inao of Manipur defeated Junali Saikia of Assam to bagged the gold while Salama Begum of Orissa took the bronze.

In the women 80+kg category, Th Ranjana and M Sarjubala both of Manipur bagged gold and silver respectively.

In the junior girls 55kg final bout played today Rashnni Hinge of Chattisgarh defeated Palashi Borah of Assam to win the gold while Ph Naocha of Manipur bagged third position to earn a bronze for Manipur.
In the junior girls 65kg category, Rakhi Das and Lipika Das  both of Assam fight for the gold medal bout in which Rakhi emerged winner while in the 75kg category L Pushparani and L Chaoba of Manipur fought for the gold medal and Pushparani emerged winner.

In other competitions held today, Gurpeet Singh of Punjab won gold in the 70kg junior boys category. The silver and bronze medals were respectively bagged by L Jeemboy of Manipur and Rakesh Meena of Maharastra respectively.

In the 80kg junior boys category, Th Milan of Manipur bagged gold while Ch Sitaljit also of Manipur bagged silver and Gurmeet Singh of Chattisgarh won the bronze.

In the junior boys 80+kg category, Anupam Sarma of Assam won gold while Naveen Kumar of Delhi and Chinmoy Das of Assam bagged silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the senior mens section, the gold medal for the 75kg category was bagged by Anur Kalita of Assam while Vemugou Hoshi of Nagaland won the silver and Sunil Kumar Raj of Orissa took the bronze.

In the 80kg category, Rikomoni Borah of Assam won gold, M Jiban of Manipur the silver and Md Same Yassen Khan of Maharastra took the bronze. In the 85kg category, Rajinder Mehndi of Pubjab won the gold while Chanda Behera of Orissa took the silver and the bronze went to Surinder Kumar of Punjab.

In the 90kg category, Debojit Sarma of Assam defeated his counterpart Sunit Bijay Kasyap to add a gold and silver for Assam. The bronze medal was bagged by Sandeep T of Kerala.

In the 100kg category, Sameer VT of Kerala won the gold while Baldev Singh of Punjab won the silver and Th Sarat of Manipur won the bronze.

In the 100+kg category, Baju Lukose of Kerala won gold while Mridul Borah of Assam won the silver and Ch Anand of Manipur won the bronze.

In the master 90kg category, K Bijen of Manipur defeated Md A Salam also of Manipur to earn gold and silver for the host state. Subash of Delhi bagged the bronze.

In the master 100kg category, K Dhanabir of Manipur defeated Manohar Shekhawat of MP to earn another gold for Manipur.

The lone competitor in the 110kg Alamdar Astarian of Andhra Pradesh had to content with the gold without having any bout as no other competitor came forward to challenge him.
