IMPHAL, Sept 14: The 7th Manipur State Film Festival held at the Manipur Film Development Corporation ,Palace Gate entered the third day today. The “Open Forum” discussions held prior to the screening of the films was deliberated on the topic of ‘Manipur cinema prospects and problems’.
Director/producer Ningthoja Lancha was the speaker of the topic and Editor of Imphal Free Press Pradip Phanjoubam moderated the forum. Lancha stressed on the financial problems faced by the film makers as celluloid films cost a considerable amount of money. He emphasized on the need to produce quality films so that the works are recognized internationally. He stated that Manipuri cinema have come a long way since the early 70’s and that there is enormous untapped potential in the state, which given proper know how and equipment can excel themselves in the field.Non feature film ‘From orphanage to olympics’ and ‘G,Anita, a Padmashree recipient’, feature film ‘Ingao Ngaona’ and ‘Khangdraeda Nongdamba’ were shown today.
