IMPHAL, Dec 2: Various Kuki civil bodies have condemnaed the kidnapping of Dr. S Singsit, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator Forest by the suspected cadres of UKLF (MC), yesterday along NH-39.
A joint statement released by the Kuki Inpi Manipur and the KSQ General Headquaters, while strongly condemning the kidnapping said that the abduction attempt was a shock to the Kuki people.
It claimed that Dr. Singsit is an honest, upright and dedicated government official who is an asset to the people of Manipur.
Dr. Singsit was recently awarded the Ph.D for his research on forestry.
Moreover it asserted that the very act of abduction was shameful for the incident happened on the day when the family was mourning the irreparable loss of their mother whose funeral was being conducted at the time of the kidnapping.
It is very hard to fathom as to why such a truthful person was being brutally abducted for ransom. The motive behind the abduction is for ransom since Dr. Singsit has no personal enmity with anyone let alone underground organisations.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur and the KSO General Headquarters also appreciated the bold effort of the NSCN(IM) and the general public of Senapati for rescuing the officer from the cruel hands of the abductors without any harm. The timely action averted chances of misunderstanding between different communities, it said and further appealed to the government to initiate necessary measures for the security of Dr. Singsit in order to allay any impending threat from the abductors.
In another statement the Thadou-Kuki Literature Society, Manipur has also strongly condemn the kidnapping of Dr. Singsit stating that it was inhumanely.
It expresses shock as to why such a noble and loyal man have been targeted at the very hour of mourning and distressed for the sake of money adding it also appreciated the bold and daring act of the NSCN-IM cadres and all those who rendered yeoman sendees in rescuing him from the cruelty hands of the abductor without any harm.
