IMPHAL, Dec 22: The Nungba Kendra Social Transformation Council, Tamenglong District has requested the state government to postpone the inauguration of the Bailey Bridge over the Leimatak River in Old Cachar Road (Tongjei Marin) scheduled for December 24 as it falls on the 1st day of Christmas which is the biggest and most auspicious festival for the Christians. As per the release, the council learnt from a reliable source that the government intends to inaugurate the bridge and Dec 24 being an auspicious date, the council has requested the government to allow the developmental work which is good progress be postponed till after Christmas is over.
