IMPHAL May 16: The 9TH Foudation Day of Ethno Heritage council (HERICOUN), Manipur was held at the auditorium of Rupmahal Theatre located at BT road Imphal today.The final episode of the 2nd khangminnasi eramdam quiz competition 2011 was also held in connection with the observation today.During the inaugural function, president of HERICOUN Rev. Renghang Chothe said that the organization is an ethnic based amalgamation of various communities aiming to preserve the cultural heritage of different cultures and traditions. It has been already 9 years since the ethnic council has been formed, he said. Within these nine years various programmes on different community based festivals were organized. He condemned all those frontal organizations responsible for divisive policies among different communities.In Ukhrul dist, there had been instances of land issues involving Dzuko valley and the same issue is prevalent at Molcham, which is located along the Indo-Burma border. He added that the situation is very alarming. To live in harmony among different tribes and communities and also saveguard the harmony from maligning external forces, the formation of a unity based ethnic organization is a must, he added. The chief guest of the function O.Biren, state commissioner of other backward classes congratulated HERICOUN for their initiatives in forming an organization based on unity, diversity and integrity. He opined that a common platform through internet could be form like data based or information for every tribes and communities. He appealed the concerned authorities to execute such initiatives to collect data of every tribes and communities to be put up in a common platform.In the mean time, the final episode of 2nd Khangminnasi eramdam quiz competition 2011 was held just after the observation of the foundation day. An award “Tomthin Khudol” was also presented to Hamom Dhoni Meetei from Jiribam, Lairembi Leikai. The prize distribution ceremony for the winners participated from different district was also held.
