IMPHAL, May 26: Imposition of a bandh along the Imphal -Tiddim road from this early morning by the recently formed JAC in connection with the killing of four years old Thiyam Roberoy of Ninghtoukhong village of Bishnupur have affected normal life at the districts of Bishnupur and Churachandpur district today.

The imposition of 72 hours Imphal-Tiddim road since this early morning was due to the failure of the state government to keep its commitment to bring out the culprits related to the boys suspicious death before the JAC`™s deadline of May 25.

It may be mentioned that, taking deep concerned over the brutal murder of Thiyam Roberoy alias Ton, 4, s/o Th Rocky of Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou Ward No.4 at the campus of Ibudhou Thangarel Laishang at Ninthoukhong Kha Khunou on May 18 afternoon, the local public of Ningthoukhong had protest against the killing since May 18 with a mass movement and later formed a JAC in connection with the killing and submitted their memorandum to the state government on May 22 demanding immediate arrest of culprits and provision of necessary compensations from the government.

In the meantime, the dead body of the deceased master Roberoy alias Ton was finally accepted by the JAC and family on May 23 following an assurance given by state senior cabinet minister Th Devendra who was in charge of the state Chief Minister while the Chief Minister was in New Delhi.
On the other hand the JAC by the time of submission of their memorandum to the state government has informed the state government to launch a 72 hours bandh from 6 am of May 26 if the state government failed to fulfill their demands by 3 pm of May 25.

On the other hand due to the sudden imposition of bandh along the Tiddim road today the regular inter district passenger services along this route was stopped and there were several reports of damaging wind screens and signal lights of the vehicles which tried to violate the bandh along this road at the general areas of Ninghthoukhong in the morning, however heavy deployment of district security forces in the entire length of Tiddim road under Bishnupur district prevented further occurrences of violent activities during the bandh hours today.

Due to the bandh most of the markets and business establishments and educational institutions in Bishnupur district remained close today.
