No deficiency of fertilizers in state: Parijat

IMPHAL July 13: All necessary actions will be taken up against recognized private dealers of fertilizers indulging in malpractices in selling of fertilizers in the state.
This was told by Ph. Parijat Singh, Minister for Agriculture to media persons during a press conference held at his office chamber this afternoon.
He added that the government will terminate the lifting orders permit, if necessary, of the concerned permit holders for loading fertilizers from outside the state.
At present the government authorized dealers are going on their own terms disregarding a recent agreement, he said.
“There is no worry of fertilizers in the state” Parijat said. He elaborated that the total stock available at present in the state is 6.175 metric tons.
Addressing the media persons he elaborated that the government has approached the central government for further allotment of 2600 metric tons of fertilizer to stock pile sufficient requirement to meet the growing demands in the state.
On the other hand, the minister disclosed that the non-functioning of a firm based in Guwahati that supplied fertilizer in the state for the last couple of years has created slight apprehension in the state. However, with the delivery of 2600 metric tons of fertilizers by one EFCO, a firm based outside the state, there will be no more problems of fertilizer scarcity problem for the state.
Later during the conference, the minister disclosed that the state has 45 government authorized fertilizer dealers. He added that through concerned minister a directive has been sent to all 45 dealers to submit stock reports of fertilizers. He further added that out of these 45 dealers only 5 dealers had submitted the report. He later warned that the government will initiate necessary actions as per essential commodities act to responsible dealers if found to ignore the agreed subsidized rate of Rs. 520 per bag.
