IMPHAL August 16: At the outset of the upcoming general elections, former minister Samuel Jendai is making preparations to get majority votes in his 53 ST assembly constituency of Tamenglong district. Speaking to the 6000 above strong mammoth gathering, Samuel exhorted that his stance of contesting the election is to bring about a progressive development in the district including installation of proper office infrastructure as well as providing job opportunities to the unemployed youths and to build an agro based economy through social and religious interaction.

He said that the able youths of the district cannot get employment due to the prevailing practice of doling out bribes and as a result the frustrated youths later turn to drug addiction and become prey to other antisocial elements.

There has to be a complete overhaul of the system if development is to be brought, he said.
