NPF lodges FIR

IMPHAL, Jan 24(NNN) : An office of the Naga People`s Front (NPF) in Tengpoupal assembly constituency in Chandel district was dismantled by the Congress party workers, according to members of the NPF, Chandel unit.

They alleged that about 100 armed supporters of Indian National Congress (INC) loaded in one Shaktiman truck, two Bolero, four Maruti Gypsy, one Tata Sumo, two Maruti cars, four Maruti vans along with 20 two-wheelers came to Marimchi in Tengnoupal assembly constituency and destroyed the NPF office.

Chandel district NPF president Paulring Langhu in an FIR lodged at the Chandel police station addressed to the superintendent of police (SP), Chandel said that supporters of DK Korungthang dismantled the NPF office at Marimchi.

DK Korungthang is the INC candidate from Tengnoupal assembly constituency while Kh David Charanga is the NPF candidate.

In the FIR, Paulring Langhu alleged that the Congress workers made several criminal intimidations to the NPF workers on that day. The supporters of DK Korungthang also damaged the vehicles of the NPF workers, said the FIR. However, the NPF workers refrained themselves even when they were being provoked to the limit, it added. The FIR then continues with the allegation that after the Congress workers had left the spot, Assam Rifles personnel came and physically assaulted the NPF workers. The NPF’s FIR said 18 workers of the NPF were thrashed by the Assam Rifles personnel.

Pleading with the SP, Chandel to investigate the matter, the NPF mentioned six Congress workers who allegedly led the Sunday attack.
