IMPHAL, Feb 19 (NNN): Abishek Kumar alias Bunti, 24 of Thangal Bazar, has been reportedly kidnapped by miscreants few days ago, according to a delayed report received.
On Sunday, police said the family members of Abishek had lodged a complain few days ago stating that Abishek has been missing since February 14. Based on the complain lodged, the police investigated the case and found out that the man has been abducted by miscreants.
However, it is still not clear whether Abishek has been kidnapped for ransom.
In another case, one extortionist was caught by the people from Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai from near the bank of Nambul river on February 16, a delayed report said today.
Police said that one Thokchom Tombi, 26 son of Thokchom Momon of Moirangkhom Sougaijam Leikai had demanded a sum of Rs 50,000 from one Thiyam Sanjoy, 65 of Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai through a cell phone by using a name of one militant outfit. Tombi asked Sanjoy to bring the money at a particular area from where the people had caught him and handed him to the police.
