IMPHAL, Feb 8: In a major operation based on specific information 33 Field Regiment of the Red Shield Division eliminated three cadres of United Democratic Liberation Front (Break away), UDLF (B) and apprehended one cadre.
On specific information regarding presence of armed UDLF (B) terrorists in general area of Upender Basti, Hailakandi, Assam, troops of 33 Field Regiment along with police representatives launched an operation in the area. Seeing the Army the terrorists opened fire. The troops retaliated and in the ensuing gun fight three UDLF (B) cadres were killed and one cadre was injured. One AK 56 Rifle, one point 303 Rifle along with a large quantity of ammunition and magazines were recovered from the terrorists. The apprehended cadre was given first aid and handed over to the Police Station Ramnathpur, Hailakandi along with the mortal remain of the three terrorists slain in the encounter, stated a release of PRO PIB (Defence Wing).
