IMPHAL, Feb 18: The United National Liberation Front has clarified that the alleged underground cadres who surrendered to IG, BSF at its Ningthoukhong base on February 15 were impersonators who played their part in a surrender drama enacted by the ‘Indian Occupational Force’.

In a press release, the group claimed that Hijam Mangoljao alias Amarjit, son of H Ranjit of Lamjao Mayai Leikai is a fugitive UNLF soldier who had deserted his camp fearing retribution from the party for violations of its codes. He has proven himself to be an indiscipline cadre who failed to stick to the revolutionary objectives and a weak character.

On the other hand, the other surrenderees, Solendro alias Inaoton, Thangcha alias Lupheng and Tungdim Jangam alias Mangoijao does not exist at all.

The release raised the possibilities that such fake surrender could be stage again in the future. However, it exuded confidence that the people will not fall prey to the deceitful acts of the IOF as they are well aware of the latter’s tactics.

Referring to the statement of the IG that violence cannot lead to any solution, the UNLF said his sentiment is a pretension meant only to wash the security force’s hands off the series of wrong doings it has committed. In the effort to suppress the people of Manipur to achieve its imperialist dream, the ‘alien force’ has unleashed terror on the masses. The case of the AR personnel’s unmindful attack on villagers of Sehlon is an example of its biased and racist views, it stated. The security personnel did not take the time for verification of the truth behind the death of a non-local supplier near its camp, the release stated, forwarding the likelihood that another non-local co-supplier was indeed behind the murder.

In conclusion, it stated that the negative attitude of the Indian army towards the local population is incorrigible and the people should not allow themselves to be taken away by the gimmicks of the civic action programmes.
