AMSU demands termination of MU HR coordinator

IMPHAL, April 7: The All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) has condemned the April 5 incident at Manipur University in which the office of the Dean of Social Sciences was vandalized and questioned the eligibility of the present coordinator of the Human Rights department.

In a statement issued here today the student body has put the blame on the Vice Chancellor for the sorry state of affairs in the university.

It said, the controversy surrounding the constitution of the curriculum committee of the Human Rights is only a by-product of the wrong policies adopted by university authorities.

Taking exception to the mode of appointment of the coordinator of Human Rights department the AMSU statement said, MU authorities seem to have buckle under pressure from certain quarters while flouting recruitment rules and UGC guidelines.

It said, certain vested interests are deliberately thwarting the efforts of the university with regard to the appointment of a new coordinator.

Demanding immediate termination of the present coordinator i/c the AMSU statement said, the present coordinator i/c is resorting to goondaism while neglecting his duties. It has become evident that in the guise of imparting education a gang is operating inside the campus, it said.

AMSU further questioned the delay in the appointment of a Pro-Vice Chancellor. It also said it would begin investigations into the DPC which appointed a new Finance Officer of the university.
