Ukhrul educationist awarded

UKHRUL, April 12: Janeth Hungyo, a dynamic educationist has been awarded with the coveted “Indira Gandhi Vidya Gold Medal Award” by the International Institute of Education &Management (I.I.E.M), Delhi on March 19, 2012 at Delhi.

For Mrs Janeth Hungyo wife of Mr. Hungyohong who hails from Ukhrul (HUNPHUN) viewland, this meritorious Award is not the first time but she has already been awarded for her dynamic roles at various social developmental disciplines including sports, social works and education. She was earlier conferred with the “Gandhi Vidya Gold Medal” along with the certificate of Excellence, in reference to her excellent and dynamic or unique role of a woman in fostering the sacrificial service towards educational development. She was also awarded with a prestigious award of “Education & Economic Development” seminar way back in September 2005 under the sponsorship from IIEM in presence of the central Union ministers, intellectuals, educationists. Janeth Hungyo is also the proud recipient of the “Jewel of India Award” specifically reflecting her yeomen’s and philanthropic services.

And in the context of her role and achievement inside the state and district, she is considered as the “Crown woman” of the society as she was the first woman among Tangkhuls in State Sports Category in Inter-School Table Tennis during 1968 and won the Championship followed to continue her achievement she won again the Championship in Manipur State International Women’s year tournament in 1975 in Table Tennis and badminton and again she bagged the Women’s double Championship in District Badminton Tournament.
