IMPHAL, May 24: Silver jubilee celebration and launching of yearlong program of the Manipur Library Association (MALA) were held today at Lamyanba Sanglen, Palace Compound, Imphal.
Addressing the function Keishamthong MLA and Chairman PAC L Ibomcha Singh said that he will hand over a sum of Rs 50,000 to MALA after receiving the local area development fund.
He also said that he will urge the government to shift the Bus parking in front of the Library.
MLA of Langthabal K Shyam Singh, who was present as the guest of honour said, so far 30 ministers and MLAs have attended the earlier functions of MALA and they have promised to implement the Manipur Public Library Act. But till today it has not been put into action, which is very unfortunate.
He said that the issue has also been highlighted to the Chief Minister for consideration.
He further added that MALA members, who are also the members of the legislative assembly, will take the issue at the coming assembly session, and they will pressurize the government to implement the act.
