IMPHAL, May 27: Top officials of Manipur Rifles and the state police today visited the village of Jessami in Ukhrul district and formally started an investigation into the case of a missing AK 47 rifle from the armoury of 6 MR posted there.
G Bimolchand, DIG (Range-III), KT Anal, CO of 6 MR and K Kabit, Superintendant of Police, Ukhrul visited the 6 MR posted at Jessami IB and also personally participated in a search for the mislaid assault rifle with the help of villagers, a police source said.
The CO of 6 Manipur Rifles station at Jessami IB in Ukhrul district had earlier grilled all the jawans at the post over the missing of the AK rifle from its armoury May 23 last.
