MLA Korungthang felicitated

MOREH, May 25: MLA Tengnoupal  D Korungthang was on Friday felicitated by Moreh Block Congress Committee, MBCC at the Hill Tribal Council conference hall, Moreh.

Rural Development/ Panchayati Raj Minister, Francis Ngajokpa , Works Minister, Kh Ratankumar, Moirang MLA, M Prithibiraj and Wabagai MLA, Fazur Rahim also attended the event as special invitees.

MLA Korungthang thanked the leaders of different communities and representatives of meira paibis in Moreh for felicitating him and said it will not be wrong to assume that there are many people among the different communities in Tengnoupal constituency who want development and harmony as they got their voting rights during the last polls to the Manipur assembly.

The MLA also appealed to the people in the constituency to render support to all the developmental works being taken up by the Central government under the Look East Policy in Moreh town.

Later in the day, Korungthang, Fazibur Rahim and Francis Ngajokpa along with a team of engineers inspected various road-works being taken up under PMGSY in Tengnoupal constituency which included Lamlong Khunou, Lilam Centre and road stretch from Heirok to Khudengthabi.

Works Minister Kh Ratan said while inspecting the Trans ASEAN Highway in Moreh that it is an important place, maintaining that proper development of the commercial hub is quite necessary. However, he expressed happiness on the overall condition of the road, but dissatisfied over the dilapidated condition of some sections of the road.

At the meantime, the minister expressed anger when he found the Hot Mix Plant machine at Lokchao in a complete non-functional state for a long time and later advised the contractors to take up necessary steps to repair the machine as soon as possible.

He also admitted that Moreh town is far less underdeveloped as compared to Tamu town of the neighbouring Myanmar and assured that the commercial hub would be made a more beautiful town.
  
The minister also assured that the joint memorandum submitted to him by Hill Tribal Council and Meetei Concil Moreh requesting for setting up of a district transport office at Moreh would be implemented. 

Besides MBCC members along with community and meira paibi leaders, the event was also attended by MDC members and others.
