Students to boycott Karnataka goods

IMPHAL, May 23: Enraged by the lack of concern of the Karnataka government over alleged murder cases of Loitam Richard, six powerful student organizations of the state have decided to boycott all goods of Karnataka origin including medical items.

Notice has also been served to several counselors of Karnataka based educational institutions in the state to leave within 24 hours.

Pledging relentless protest against the killings of Richard and Laba General Secretary of DESAM Thoithoi said, it will remain continue until the two cases are handed over to CBI.

General Secretary Thoithoi was addressing members of the press today at the office of KSA here.

Frontline student bodies of the state AMSU, MSF, DESAM, SUK, SWAK and KSA have been leading a movement in Imphal for delivery of justice with regard to the two alleged murder cases.

Announcing the commencement of the Karnataka boycott from 6 am tomorrow Thoithoi said, all professional advisers representing institutions of Karnataka state should leave the state immediately.

If they are found staying in hotels or somewhere ignoring the decision of the six student organizations they should bear the responsibility of any consequences, he added.

DESAM vice president Angamba accused the state government of concealing the report on the death of Richard while demanding that the report should be made public.

Calling upon the government to send a ministerial team to Karnataka as soon as possible the DESAM leader suggested that the truth behind the death of Richard would be divulged only after Afjal Ali and Vishal are booked and interrogated.
