IMPHAL, May 24: The United Committee, Manipur has today urged the state government to look into the sorry state of the inter village road connecting Leikinthabi to Sagolchabi in Imphal West district under Lamsang constituency.

The IVR also passes through several villages under Saikul constituency in Senapati district.

The civil body today conducted a tour of the area along with media persons and interacted with the locals on their grievances.

Speaking to media persons Khongnangpokpi village chief S Boilen said, the WBM work of the 3 km long inter village road has already been done about one year back.

However due to the absence of black topping, the stones have started coming out to the surface, which has only worsened the condition, he added.

Even though the initial plan was to black-top the whole 3km long stretch, the concerned department has informed that black-topping would be done only for half of the total length.

He further expressed that the IVR serves as the main connectivity for more than seven villages belonging to different communities including Meitei villages and tribal villages.

The villages are Chanbirok, Charik Leitongbam, Yaipanpokpi, Nungpakthabi , Mapao Khulen, Khongnangpokpi, Mapou Thangal included in various constituencies.
