State CPI condoles death of comrade Ram Singh

IMPHAL, June 14: The CPI Manipur State Council has condoled the death of veteran comrade Lukram Ram singh who passed away yesterday at his residence at Kangmong Langonjam in Nambol, Bishnupur district. He was 99.

The veteran communist, who had contributed in the communist movement under the leadership of Hijam Irawat, is survived by his wife, 89, and five daughters.

Ramsigh took part as a comrade-in-arms in the communist movement led by Irawat and he was jailed for 14 years outside Manipur, the state CPI said in a statement.

Comrade Dr M Nara, State Secretary, N Mangi , Secretariat Member, L Iboyaima, A Lala and M Shakhi, leader of Nupi Marup paid floral tributes and last red salute to the late comrade.

A condolence meeting was also held at the party office here which was also participated by Central leaders of the party, AB Bardhan and National General Secretary Sudhakar Reddy. The meeting also observed a two-minute silence to honour the departed soul.

The party mourned the death of Ramsigh by unfurling the party flag half mast. The state CPI also said it shares the grief of the bereaved family.
