Symposium on system of rice intensification held

IMPHAL, June 12: The 3rd State Level Symposium on “System of Rice Intensification” organized by Rongmei Naga Baptist Association (RNBA) was held at Classic Hotel here on Tuesday.

Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Md Abdul Nasir and Tamenglong MLA, Janghemlung Panmei attended the meeting as chief guest and guest of honour.

Underlining the importance of organizing such symposium, Minister Nasir assured the gathering that he would provide possible assistance to the RNBA such programmes in future.

MLA Panmei emphasized that the state would be able to join the race of development only when agricultural products are in abundance and farmers are prosperous.

He said it would be the right step if the NGOs in the state render support to all the farmers.

The locally found variety of rice is much tastier than those found in other parts of the country and that if we are able to export this rice to other states, people would like it very much, he noted.

The MLA also expressed his desire to focus on agriculture. He thanked RNBA for organizing such symposium, and assured that he will urge the government tp extend all possible help to the association in organizing such programmes.
