IMPHAL, June 11: Imphal West District Police Commandos arrested two active members of PREPAK, who came on a Santro car bearing Regn no AS-01U/1717 silky sliver in colour, which was involved in extortion ofmoney from Wangoi Bazar, said a police release.
The arrested persons are identified as Heisnam Bimol Singh, 32, son of H Devendro Singh of Singjamei Chingamakha Kshetri Leikai and Heisnam Sangita Devi, 35, son of H Devendro Singh of Singjamei Chingamakha Kshetri Leikai, the release said.
Two mobile handsets and one Santro car were recovered and seized from them, it added.
In a separate release of police, a team of CDO Imphal East under the supervision of M Rajen Singh, MPS, Addl SP (OPs) of Imphal East have arrested one arms smuggler namely, Thingom Suresh alias Boy Meitai, 26, son of Th Saratchandra Meitei of Khurai Chaithabi Leirak, from his residence. One 9 mm pistol with magazine was recovered from his possession.
On verification, he disclosed that he has been making pistols for quite some time. He along with his younger brother namely, Tondom have been making and smuggling small arms since the past 2/3 years.
