6th Manipur State conference of AIPSO held

IMPHAL, August 31: The 6th Manipur State Conference of the All India Peace and Solidarity Organization (AIPSO) was held at Hotel Imphal today.

The inauguration function was attended by Home Minister Gaikhangam, Nilotpal Bose, general secretary, AIPSO and PallabSen Gupta, general secretary, AIPSO as the chief guest and special guests receptively.

The function was also attended by LaisomLalit Singh, former Finance Minister, Manipur, Dr ChJamini Devi, president, Manipur State Committee, AIPSO, N Benoy Singh, president, Senior Citizens for Society, Manipur, Dr M Nara Singh, national vice-president, AIPSO as presidium members.

Speaking at the function Home Minister Gaikhangam said it is in the nature of the world to fight, argue, conflicts etc. But as a human being it is our duty to maintain peace without seeing the differences.

He further said that we are shouting for peace but in reality we have failed to maintain it. This is because what we say and what we do is different.

If you only think of yourself and not consider what others think then it will become impossible to bring peace. If you cannot win yourself you cannot win others too. What we can do is to join hands to bring peace, he added.   

Other speakers who spoke at the function also emphasizes on the need to bring peace for co-existence. 

A symposium on “North East India-Emerging Dynamics” was presented by Prof IS Khaidem, former vice-chancellor of Manipur University.

The later part of the programme saw Lt Col (Retd) KA Singh speaking on the subtheme “Conflict situation in NE States Ramifications and Remedies”; Lt Col (Retd) RS Jassal on ‘Imperative of Social Justice, Equality and protection of Human Rights”; and Senior Advocate Khaidem Mani Singh on “Need for Electoral Reforms.”
