IMPHAL, Aug 5: The two masons who were abducted by suspected KCP (MC) militants for a ransom of Rs. 15 lakh were safely released last night at around 1 am near Lamdeng Khunou.
The released masons were Huidrom Khambaton, 30, son of H Kullachandra of Itham Nungoi and Sapam Meiraba, 40, son of S Girani of Loitang Khunou. They were engaged in the construction works of a new RCC bridge at Phumlou Siphai under Lamsang Police Station.
The masons were blindfolded when they were released by their abductors near Lamdeng Khunou. The locals of Itham Ningoi and Loitang Khunou warmly received them and appealed to all concerned not to cause harm to the innocent people.
