IMPHAL, August 26: Unidentified persons left a hand grenade at the residential gate of a Loktak Development Authority Executive Engineer, Ashem Kumarjit Singh, 50 son of A Babudhon at Kakwa Naorem Leikai, Liwa Lambi this morning.
Sources informed that family members found the hand grenade wrapped in an old newspaper lying in front of the residential gate this early morning around 6:30am and informed the concern Singjamei Police.
It is also learnt that a police bomb squad arrived and picked up the grenade at around 8:30am and defuse it at Canchipur.
According to the EE, there has been no threat or monetary demands prior to the grenade threat.
Meanwhile, locals expressed that they had seen the newspaper ball lying since yesterday late evening.
