Manipur, IMPHAL, Aug 3: In a significant investigation by the police regarding crime against women, one Leisangthem Raj alias Abung, aged 24, s/o Ojit of Khonghampat Mayai Leikai has been sent to jail for texting indecent messages to a woman.
Police reports states that Anita (name changed) around 32 years of age started receiving the text messages from July 22 onwards.
As her husband saw the indecent text messages he charged her of having an affair with another person.
Despite clarifications, her husband would not be convinced and she later came back to her parental home located at Awang Potsnagbam.
She was married on April last at Patsoi Part 2.
Anita later lodged a complaint to the Sekmai police regarding the issue on July 27 and disclosed the phone number of the person who had sent the indecent messages.
The accused was registered under FIR number 74 (7) 2012 u/s 415/506/509 of the IPC, the sections include impersonation, obscenity and threatening.
The mobile number was traced and yesterday a team of Sekmai police arrested Raj from his residence. He was produced before JMIC, Imphal West and sent to jail today.
According to the culprit, he never met Anita and by mistake had called her number. After coming to know that the recipient was a woman, he had started texting the indecent messages.
