IMPHAL, August 25: In continued involvement of state security personnel in unlawful acts, an alleged VDF personnel identified as Md Matalip of Hiyangthang Tarahei Konjin was caught by locals while driving a stolen Honda Activa from Singjamei Chingamakha Phura Makhong today.
The incident happened this evening around 5pm.
Sources informed that the moped owner who is an employee of the State Archives was at the spot to take measurement of the Phura, when he saw someone trying to drive away his moped.
He shouted which alarmed the nearby locals and Model Club youths and chased the moped.
Frightened by the crowd coming behind him, the alleged thief hit a Rickshaw and fell down during which the locals captured him.
It is also learnt that during checking of his pockets, the locals found a VDF Identity card issued by the Government of Manipur District Police HQ, Imphal West in the name of Md Matalip with VDF no V111836.
The locals also found a vehicle pass issued in his name by the Traffic Control Police, IW district.
Meanwhile, even as the locals were interrogating the said persons, a team of the Singjamei PS arrived and pick up both the vehicle owner and the alleged VDF personnel for further interrogation.
