IMPHAL, Sept 15: Centre of Indian Trade Union (Centre of Indian Trade Union) and All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) have reacted strongly against the price rise of diesel.

A press meet was called in today jointly by Centre of Indian Trade Union and All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) at AITUC office at Irabot Bhavan.

Speaking to media persons, Laishram Sotin, general secretary, AITUC said that under the UPA government the diesel price has been increase to double. It was Rs 23.25 per litre but it has been increase double the price by Rs 46.32 per litre now.

He further continued that as a result of the increase in the price of diesel, the truck fare will also be increased by 15 percent which will again lead to the increase in prices of essential commodities.

Terming the price rise as against the wishes of common people he said there is no good reason for the increase in the price of diesel.

He also said that day if the government fails to turn back the increase price by September 18, a general strike will be imposed on the following.

Shanta, secretary, CITU, also added that the government should turn back the increase price in diesel before September 18. The government is giving compensation to the co-operate houses of RS 5.21 crore lakh. If they reduce the compensation then there is no need to increase the price of the essential commodities.
