Manipur, IMPHAL, September 7: “Vehicles of VVIP/VIP and those employees whose office/work site located inside Kangla are allowed”, said the Superintendent of Archaeology replying to an RTI query placed before the government official by one Bobo Khuraijam.

The RTI question was, “Are vehicles (car and bikes) allowed to enter Kangla either for the purpose of strolling inside Kangla or passing through Kangla (as short cuts)?”.

Further according to the information furnished under the RTI, government officials who will be allowed to stroll inside the Kangla include both working in the state and the central government.

On another query regarding why persons not working under the government are not allowed inside the Kangla, the Superintendent has replied, “As per decision of the president, Kangla Fort Board, those above 60 years irrespective of whether they are government employees or not are also allowed”.

Further according to the reply furnished by the Superintendent cycle and rickshaws are allowed inside for those visiting the Kangla on religious purposes.

On another query, the Superintendent has replied that the ‘Cycle on Rent’ facilitated by Manipur Cycle Club and launched by the current Chief Secretary is not yet opened to the public and that the approval of the Kangla Fort Board is required for the same.
