Repoll recount in demand

IMPHAL, September 29: The JAC against the mal-practices of 4th General Panchayat Election, 2012 today called a press conference at the Manipur Press Club today demanding repoll or recounting of votes of the polling stations where there is any discord on the results.

Speaking to media persons, convenor L Gojen Singh said the recent GP election was not in any way democratic.

He claimed that a candidate who was declared as a winner was denied the certificate later on the grounds that he had lost.

He further added that there were instances when there were more ballot papers during counting of votes than when the actual votes casted.

He continued that in cast the authorities fail to conduct repoll or recounting within six months, then the JAC will launched agitations from the next day and sent complaints to the Election Commission of India.
