AR jawan injured in IED blast

IMPHAL, Oct 15 (NNN): An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast wounded an Assam Rifles jawan somewhere between Khordak and Arong Nongmaikhong under Mayang Imphal Police Station in Imphal West on Monday.

Negi Vohra, Naik Subedar of 33 Assam Rifles suffered wounds in the explosion that occurred in a place connecting Khordak and Arong Nongmaikhong around 1:10 pm today, police sources said, adding he has been taken to Leimakhong Army unit military hospital for treatment.

The condition of the jawan was stated to be out of danger.

It was not immediately known which group was responsible for the attack.

The roadside bomb believed to have been planted by unidentified militants was set off as the foot patrol party of the AR personnel crossed the area, injuring the Naik Subedar. The 33 Assam Rifles is stationed at Komlakhong in the district.
