IED blast at Thoubal Houkha

    IMPHAL, November 16: A powerful Improvise Explosive Device (IED) exploded at a road side at Thoubal Houkha (near NRL petrol pump) on National Highway number 2 under Thoubal Police Station this morning at around 9, but no casualties were reported.

    According to the police, the explosion took place just after an Assam Rifle convoy passed the area. It is suspected that the explosion was made using a remote control device and it must be weighted around 2 kg. 

    It may be mention here that the police had recovered an IED bomb from this area on National Highway number 2 (Imphal-Moreh Road) a few days ago and also on November 12, an IED explosion occurred at near Imphal College on Imphal Tiddim Road, where one mason was killed with another left critically injured.
