Inquiry into Ibobi`s assets demanded

IMPHAL, November 3: Continuing with his tirade over the corruption scams which have surfaced under the Congress government in the state, visiting BJP NE Zonal Organizing Secretary, P Chandra Shekar Rao today demanded a thorough investigation of the state Chief Minister’s assets by an investigative agency.

Speaking to media persons today at the BJP’s Imphal office, Rao wanted IT or any other investigative agencies to investigate the assets of the CM and his family members while charging that the CM Okram Ibobi Singh is involved in the Loktak scam.

Alleging Congress MP from Andhra Pradesh Dr Kavuri Samba Siva Rao and his son K Bhaskar Rao of involvement in the Loktak scam he demanded immediate arrest of the father and son duo.

Continuing his charges, the BJP regional leader said that considering the huge significance of the lake, the Planning Commission of India had approved Rs 500 crores under SPA for conservation and Management of the lake, out of which Rs 224 crore was sanctioned only to clear the floating phumdis.

He charged that the Chief Minister had awarded the tender for clearing the phumdis to his own agency so as to siphon off his share from the central funding. Under such circumstances, it would be only rational to conduct a thorough investigate of his and that of his relatives’ assets at the earliest.

He further charged that even though the fund has already been sanctioned, only about 10 percent of the total work regarding the clearing of phumdis from the lake has been completed till date even though the actual deadline for the completion of the contrat work with K-Pro Infra Works Pvt Ltd was set for November 2011.

Continuing further, he demanded clarification from the centre as well as the state government on certain points.

He elaborated that the BJP has demanded the present status paper on the Loktak Lake Phumdis clearance contract given to K Pro Infra Works Pvt Ltd by the state government and immediate release of the details of the promoters of company including full form of the farm’s name.

Continuing that there were certain anomalies during the selection of the company for the clearing of the Loktak Lake which was eventually awarded to the K-Pro Infra Works Pvt Ltd, the BJP has demanded a special Audit enquiry on the scam by the Controller and Auditor General of India at the earliest.

He said K Pro Infra Works Pvt Ltd is purely a brainchild of CM Ibobi Singh with whom he shares a common treasury.

He added, “In a flimsy manoeuvre CM Ibobi in collusion with M/s Progressive Construction Limited invented a sister farm and branded it as M/s K Pro Infra Works Private Ltd so as to suit his systematic plan”.

He continued Progressive Construction Limited is owned by MP from Andhra Pradesh Dr Kavuri Samba Siva Rao’s son K Bhaskar Rao.

He demanded immediate arrest of the Andha MP and his son for their involvement in the Loktak scam.

An enquiry commission should also be set up under a sitting Supreme Court Judge on the scam without further delay, he demanded.

The BJP leader further continued that the tender notification of LDA had been an outright breach of the CPWD norms and questioned whether, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh could rectify the existing norm of the CPWD on the ground that he is the CM of the state and whether it tantamount to breach of CPWD norms.

Today’s press conference was also attended by BJP state president, Sh Shantikumar.
