A cartoon by Manipuri cartoonist Satya Hijam has been selected as one of the best 5 cartoons at the cartoon exhibition on the theme” Climate Change and Himalayas” organized by National Institute of Science Communication And Information Resources (NISCAIR), a constituent establishment of the Council of Scientific And industrial Research (CSIR) in association with seven other scientific organisations in the country. The cartoon competition was organized as a part of an International Conference on “Climate Change & Himalayas” to be held on 3rd to 5th December, 2012 at New Delhi. The best 5 cartoons along with other selected cartoons will be exhibited at the India Gate lawns for the duration of the Conference.
Satya Hijam took part in the category for the uppermost age group of 18-35 years. Being one of the best 5 cartoonists, Satya will receive a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-, along with citation, memento and gift bag. The cartoon, along with other selected cartoons will be published in the form of a book.

The cartoons were selected after evaluation by a jury comprising of eminent academicians and cartoonists viz., Prof A.L Ramanatahn, Jawaharlal Nehru University (Technical expert) ,Cartoonist Surendra (The Hindu), Cartoonist Jayanto Banerjee (Hindustan Times), Cartoonist Prasannan Annnikkad (Chairman, Kerala Cartoon Academy), Cartoonist Sudheernath, Cartoonist Gujjarappa (Indian Institute of Cartoonists, Bangalore).
Satya Hijam had drawn cartoons for Imphal Free Press and The Sangai Express (English). He is presently working as an Art teacher at Jawahar Navodaya School, Chen, Nagaland.
