Assam, Bangladesh join Nupi Lal observation

IMPHAL, December 12: The 73rd Nupi Lal anniversary was also observed at Bangladesh and Assam.

In Assam the day was observed at several places with the main function being held at Lourembam Tombi Lampak, Dhaninagar, Hojai, Assam.

The observation was attended by around 1000 persons, informed UCM members who had also attended the day.

Speaking to IFP, the UCM members said the observation was sponsored by United Manipuri Women Council, UMWC of Dhani Nagar, Hosai, Assam.

UMWC, president L Babani Sharma, All Manipur Tammi CHingmi APunba Nupi Lup president Soibam ongbi Momonleima, UCM secretary organization YK Dhiren, UCM IPR secretary Ng Deva attended the function as president, chief guest and guests of honour, respectively.

During the opening of the function, the multi-coloured flag of the UMWC was hoisted by its president which was followed by paying of floral tributes to photos of Nupi Lan leaders.

A minute’s silence was also observed as a show of respect to the leaders.

The observation was attended by women from 32 different places of Assam.

According to a press release of the Ramnagar Manipuri Chaokhat Khongthang Nupi Lup, Ramnagar , Shrimangal, Moulvi Bazar, Bangladesh, the day was also observed at Ramnagar, Shrimangal, Moulvi Bazar, Bangladesh with a simple function.

The statement has said that the observation was attended by Chairman Shrimagal Upazilla Parishad, Randhir Kumar Dev, as chief guest, Upazilla Nirbahi Officer, Shrimangal, Janab Mohamad Ashafakul hak Chouduri, Chairman, 6 No. Ashidron UP, Ranendra Prashad Bardhan, Surbipara, Shrimangal Professor Krishnalal Kaloyar and Member 4 no Ward 6 no Ashidron UP, Mohamad Arju Miya as guests of honour and president, Ramnagar Manipuri Chaokhat Khongthang Nupi lup, Phajatombi Devi as president.

Main highlights of the day were the speeches of the chief guest, president and guests of honour and cultural programmes, it said.

The observation was also attended by several Manipuri residing in various parts of Bangladesh including from Sylhet, Bhanugash, Nondory, Ramnagor, said the statement signed by Thingujam ongbi Ohela Devi.
