IMPHAL, December 6: Local club volunteers and Meira Paibi of Langthabal Phura Makong today dismantled the temporary shelter of a person who has allegedly stolen GI pipes from the premises of Young Union Club, Langthabal Phura Makong, which were meant to be used in developmental works for the locality.
The person is identified as Laipakpham Ghana, 50, son of late Amu of Langthabal Phura Makhong.
Speaking to media persons, one of the volunteers said that an 18 feet long GI pipe was found missing from the premises of the club on August 4, which were kept for the development work for the locality. Again in the next morning also another 8 feet long GI pipe was found missing.
Suspecting Ghana’s involvement in the stealing of GI pipes, the club volunteers searched the temporary shelter of Ghana, at Nambul riverbank in Langthabal Phura Makhong and found the missing GI pipe there, the volunteer said.
Later, the angry locals along with Meira Paibi dismantled Ghana temporary shelter and handed him over to Singjamei Police team, who arrived at the scene.
The volunteers also accused Ghana of selling banned drugs at his temporary shelter.
