Suspected bandh supporters attacked Kim Gangte, say MPTC

IMPHAL, December 31: The Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee has in a release strongly condemned the alleged attack on its party president Kim Gangte on December 24 last by suspected bandh supporters at Naoremthong Junction.   

A press release from the party alleged that on December 24 last at about 2:30 pm, the MPTC president Kim Gangte was returning home after holding a press conference on the present issue of the Chandel incident when she was attacked by suspected bandh supporters at Naoremthong Junction.

It further claimed that the hand bag containing containing two mobile phones, some cash and important documents were snatched from her besides the vehicle that she was traveling in being smashed. The mob also hurled unpalatable and abusive languages to her, the release said.

The MPTC while condemning the incident has requested for the return of the two mobile phones and appreciated the O.C. of Lamphel Police Station and his team for their timely arrival at the scene and rescuing the President from the attack.
