99 petrol, diesel tankers arrive

    IMPHAL, Jan 29:  120 trucks loaded with petroleum products which had earlier been stranded at Khatakhati in Assam following  the total public blockade called by the Kuki State Demand Commitee (KSDC) in Kuki inhabited areas from 5 p.m. of 24 January  arrived safely today at around 10.30 p.m. at Imphal. A source said the tankers included 99 diesel tankers and 21 LPG bullet tankers. The source further informed that the oil tankers which arrived today and which have parked at the inter state bus terminus (ISTB)had been escorted by CRPF personnel as usual. The petroleum tankers to be escorted by CRPF personnel would leave for Khatkhati, Imphal after unloading at IOC depot and. On the other hand, 15 oil tankers among the empty ones escorted by Manipur Rifles personnel which left Imphal along the Imphal-Jiribam road reached Ram Nagar, Silchar yesterday itself and would return to Imphal after the loading. It may be mentioned that the blockade has been suspended following an agreement between the government and the KSDC representatives.
