Wahengbam Leikai to Oriental College gate road to be blocked

IMPHAL, January 5: A co-ordinating committee instituted by 10 clubs of Sagolband: Youth Development Organisation (YDO), Lukram Leirak; Ideal Club, Tera Keithel; Nalam Sang, Khuraijam Leirak; Youth Forum, Tera Tongbram Leikai; Development Committee, Bijoy Govinda Gram Pancahayat; Eastern Development Committee, Tera; NH-53 Kanglei Ching Tam Leima Lup, Tera Yambem Leikai; Tingbaijam Leikai Development Committee; Yengkhom Leirak Youth Development Club (YLDC), Yengkhom Leirak and Loukham Leirak Welfare Association, Loukham Leirak has announced that the NH-37 road will blocked from Wahengbam Leikai to Oriental College gate from January 8 if the concerned department or Minister do not take up any measures to complete the said road and nearby important roads by January 7.

Speaking to media persons at a press meet Hidungmayum Manoj Sharma, convenor of the Co-ordinating committee, said the co-ordinating committee held a meeting on 3rd January and made a resolution demanding for  construction of the damaged important roads on NH-37 within January 7. “The sorry condition of the road has caused lots of dust being generated the whole day and this make people in surrounding area to fall to various infections and health conditions like asthma, sinus and dust allergy,” he said while adding that the roads in the area are crucial lifelines within Imphal.

He further said that the Lukram Leirak road which lead to FCI and FCS godown, Khuraijam Leirak and Tera Loukrapam Leikai are important roads which has been dumped by the Govt. for many years.
