Lok Sabha MP announces nationwide general strike

IMPHAL, February 17: The All India Trade Union Congress has called for a nationwide general strike on February 20 and 21. The general strike for the Manipur chapter was announced today by Member of Parliament, Gurudas Das Gupta at a public meeting held at Thou Ground.
AITUC today organized a mass rally and a public meeting against price rise of basic commodities.
The public meeting was also attended by Manipur CPI leader Dr Nara, MU Prof Dr Chinglen, N Mangi and other key CPI leaders of the state.
Gurudas Das Gupta said that on February 20 and 21, 120 crore population of India will support the all India general strike.
He said that this will be the first of its kind general strike in the history of mankind.
He said that the upcoming general strike is against the economic policy of the UPA govt which is against the common people of India.
He said the 48 hr general strike organized by AITUC has been called making 10 demands from the ruling govt of India.
Gurudas Das Gupta charged that the central govt is harassing the general public deliberately.
He continued that the central govt has failed to address the unemployment problem. He said that the problems which the state is facing are not only for the state of Manipur and added that the same kind of problems are being faced all over the Nation.
