Ukl JAC on child abuse unhappy with govt` silence, announces action

IMPHAL, March 9: Condemning the brutal beating of a 9 year old girl on Febraury 3 last at Seven Finance Colony at Ukhrul district on the charge of stealing a mobile phone and gold, the JAC against life attempt to a girl child has warned to take up intense agitations if justice is not delivered to the girl.

Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club today AC Thotso, Convenor of the JAC said the accused Jim Horam and his mother Eda Horam of Kachai Village, Ukhrul district beat up the girl who was working at their house  resulting in a head injury including fracture of collar bone and left elbow.

The girl was taken to their house after giving the promise to bring her up and take care of her education. However, she was kept confined to the house and used her as domestic help. She was not sent to school at all.  ol.

The accused Jim, is in Sajiwa Jail at present.

However Eda is on anticipatory bail granted by the Session Court.

The JAC today questions how anticipatory bail was granted when they had violated child rights, right to education and stipulations under the Indian child welfare Act.

He then said that the police department has got all the evidences and taken enough time to prepare its charge sheet however it is not yet submitted which is delaying the case.

He further warned that the JAC would take up further agitations in case the concerned authorities remained on silent mode.
