Chief Justice Sapre oversees CJM Kangpokpi

KANGPOKPI, April 27: The Chief Justice of Manipur High Court Abhay Manohar Sapre visited the Court of Judicial Magistrate I Class, Kangpokpi today morning with his better half.

The Chief Justice was accompanied by Law Secretary Ramesh Chandra; Justice N Kotiswar; District and Session Judge Manipur West Salam Mocha; Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice, concerned officials, ADC Kangpokpi DK Thangboi, Addl SP Kangpokpi Zakir and other high ranking officers during the visit.

The visiting team led by the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court was accorded a warm welcome by the Kangpokpi Town Committee and Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization at the Court premises.

The Chief Justice AM Sapre inspected the condition of the Court of Judicial Magistrate I Class Kangpokpi and assured to help meet all the court’s requirement and fulfill its mission.

“I am coming here upto your doorstep to find out the requirements of the Court,” said the Chief Justice to Ningthoujam Lanleima, the Judicial Magistrate I Class, Kangpokpi.

Meanwhile the Chief Justice was informed that some of the JMIC, Kangpokpi staff including its Judicial Magistrate I Class N.Lanleima herself traveled at least 45 Km every day to attend their duty at Kangpokpi from Imphal due to the non-existence of proper staff quarter.

Subsequently, the Addl Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi DK Thangboi while interacting with the Chief Justice assured to provide a staff quarter for the staff of the court of JMIC Kangpokpi until proper staff quarter were provided.

Meanwhile, a District and Session Court and Jail are likely to be set up for Kangpokpi and once the court is set up and begin to function, it will help deal with the trials of various crimes occurring in the area, according to a reliable source.

The Chief Justice also inspected a land plot for the proposed site for construction of a District and Session Court with Jail which is located at a 5-minute drive from the JMIC, Kangpokpi premises.

The Kangpokpi Town Committee might step in to donate the inspected land in case the District and Session Court with a Jail is to be set up in the future, further added the source.

The Chief Justice left Kangpokpi for Senapati where he paid a similar visit at the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Senapati. Deputy Commissioner Senapati and Superintendent of Police Senapati along with the Chief Judicial Magistrate RK Memcha accompanied the visiting team at Senapati.

The Chief Justice then left for Kohima the morning itself.

Meanwhile, during the Kangpokpi visit, the Kangpokpi Town Committee secretary Haokholun Chongloi addressed a welcome speech while the committee chairman Chonkam Kipgen presented a Kuki traditional shawl to the Chief Justice AM Sapre and the Law Secretary Ramesh Chandra. The Chief Justice’s better half was also presented a Kuki traditional shawl by K Hoinu, chairperson of the Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization on behalf of the women bodies.
