IMPHAL, April 22: Major General UK Gurung, AVSM, YSM, IG AR (South) and All Ranks of Assam Rifles extend their greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of ‘Khongjom Day – 2013’. Observed to mark the gallant battle which was fought to repel the British Army after they had declared war against Manipur on 31 March 1891, it reminds us of the soaring sense of patriotism of brave sons of Manipur like Paona Brajabasi and Chinglensana. IGAR (South) urges the people of Manipur to come together and stand united to fight against the social evils and insurgency in a similar manner to bring about peace, prosperity and tranquility in the days to come. All ranks of IGAR (South) wish that the people in Manipur live in peace and harmony. Let us join hands to spread amity and bring prosperity to the State as a tribute to the Almighty.
