New mission centre Lamphou Pasna bifurcated from mother parish in a solemn farewell function held at Chandel

CHNDEL, June 9: With all the measures taken for bifurcation of Mission Centre/Parish in Lamphou Pasna village going well, the parishioners of St. Peter’s parish Monsang Pantha and Mission Centre/parish Lamphou Pasna finally had to bid adieu to each other in the cultural farewell meet held on Saturday which was organized by the Monsang Pantha parish priest, Rev Fr. George following a Mass at its centre on the occasion of what the parishioners termed it as ‘material bifurcation’ and not ‘a faith or spiritual demarcation’.

Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Parish Monsang Pantha, Rev Fr George and the Parish Priest, Rev Fr George Baite who had been appointed as the first parish priest of the newly instituted Mission Centre/Parish of Lamphou Pasna, were joined in by the boarders of St. Peter’s School and lay faithful coming from different churches in the celebration of the farewell that was marked by special songs of women department from different churches, songs and dance from the boarders and the Monsang Youths with their colorful and rhythmic cultural dance show.

Parishioner and resident of Monsang Pantha, Ts Andrew while proposing a vote of thanks led the whole congregation to a silent prayer as a mark of love and respect to the departed and living souls of the priest who according to Andrew the present St. Peter’s Parish came into being because of their contribution. He pointed out in his important speech that Rev Fr Chacko was the founder and the first parish priest of St. Peter’s Parish Monsang Pantha. While wishing the faithful of the newly instituted mission centre best wishes, he assured them that the mother parish will continue to extend prayer support. While commenting success of the programe, Andrew made a special mention of the 20 BN Assam Rifles, boarders and the participants.
