IMPHAL, July 31: The Manipur Students’ Federation, MSF today called a press conference demanding the unconditional release of the student body’s Thoubal unit president, Md Mehtab alias Abung.
Speaking to mediapersons, RN Koireng general secretary said, Md Mehtab was arrested by a Thoubal police team from his residence for his alleged involvement in the movement demanding justice in a rape case.
He was arrested around 4am by the police, he said.
Md Mehtab is not guilty of anything as he was only participating in a people’s movement demanding justice in a rape case, Koireng claimed.
He further demanded clarification from the state Home department on the arrest.
Condemning the police action, he said that unless the student leader is released at the earliest, the student body will initiate agitations.
