IMPHAL, July 22: At least six numbers of shops have been gutted in a fire which erupted suddenly at Irong Chesaba Bazaar at Mayang Imphal early July 22 around 3:30 am.
A source from the Mayang Imphal Fire Sub Station has said that the gutted shops included hardware shops, grocery shops, tailor etc. out of which, three shops have been burnt down totally. Although the cause of the fire is yet to be established, it is suspected that it could have been ignited from a kitchen fire of one of the shops.
Soon after receiving the news, fire tenders of the Mayang Imphal Fire Station rushed to the spot around 3:50am and managed to control the fire before it spread to the other shops. However, three shops were burned down during the incident.
