Dy CM sends off Haj pilgrims

IMPHAL, Sept 21: State Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today send off 227 Haj pilgrims from the Tulihal Airport for Guwahati today.

The Dy CM wished them a safe journey to Mecca in Saudi Arabia and asked them to pray to God for peace and prosperity of the state.

Member of Parliament from Inner Manipur, Dr Thokchom Meina Singh, Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir, chairman of the Manipur State Haj Committee Parliamentary Secretary Amin Shah and MLA Md. Fazur Rahim were also present at the see-off function.  

Parliamentary Secretary Amin Shah will also be going to Mecca. 17 pilgrims had already left for Guwahati enroute to haj yesterday, whereas the last team comprising of 102 pilgrims will be leaving tomorrow.

Altogether, 346 pilgrims will leave Guwahati on September 23-24 for Madinah (Saudi Arabia) to Mecca.

SWF warns BRTF/BRO to stop bridge construction works, threatens stir

IMPHAL, Sept 21: Informing the concerned BRTF/BRO or any government authority to stop all kind of works on all bridge construction sites from September 28 midnight till the estimated cost of compensation amount is released through the Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong District; the Social Welfare Forum (SWF), Barak to Phaithol has threatened that it will resume blocking works on all bridge construction sites and oppose any vehicles plying on the newly completed bridges by any means.

In a statement, the SWF said the land acquisition for 22 bridges and one detachment between 145 km to 216 km on Barak – Jiribam road (NH 37) has been completed two years back and that the BRTF/BRO should be ready to bear the cost for any untoward incidents or loss on any bridge sites arises during the agitation.
