Satyabhama murder case charge hearing deferred till Oct 30

IMPHAL, October 17: JAC members, womenfolk and family members of N Satyabhama protested today shouting slogans inside the court complex demanding prompt justice in the murder case and capital punishment for the three accused in the murder case as the three were being led away from the court under heavy security after being produced for the charge hearing of the murder case.

A strong team of woman police constables fought hard to control the angry protestors and prevent any untoward incidents inside the court complex.

The three accused Toijam Thesus alias Boy alias James, 27, son of T Jugindro of Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai; Thoudam Jibon, 27, son of (L) Th Thoiba of Irilbung Machahal Mayai Leikai and Kshetrimayum Biju alias Holendro, 28, son of Ibungo of Irilbung Bazar were produced before the District and Session Court, Manipur East for the charge hearing of the murder case and the court has fixed October 30 as the next day for the charge hearing.

One of the accused James had failed to produce a defence lawyer to represent him.

It may be mentioned that the dead body of Ningombam Seityabhama alias Penao, 31, daughter of N Tomba of Kakwa Laishram Leikai Selungbam Leirak, a Junior Research Fellow under a DBT project on Pathology at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, was recovered in a partly decomposed state from a canal at Bashikhong Wangkhei Lowmanbi Loukon Khong under Irilbung Police Station, Imphal East district on April 5 afternoon.
