Cops rescue abducted youth with ransom of Rs 3 crore

IMPHAL, November 11:Team of Imphal West District Police rescued a 21-year-old man who was kidnapped by cadres of KRA (U) on November 5 for a ransom of Rs 3 lakhs. Two cadres of the outfit involved in the kidnapping were also caught and handed over to Senapati District Police.

According to a press release issued by K Jayanta, Superintendent of Police Imphal West, a team of the district police have successfully rescued a 21-year-old youth identified as Paokhohang Kilong, son of Khupkhohao Kilong @ Haopu of Ekou Bazar who was kidnapped for a ransom by the cadres of KRA (U) from Saikul area on November 5 at around 8.30 pm was today successfully rescued. The two KRA (U) cadres along with a grey Maruti Van bearing registration number MN01W/1067 are now under police custody, it added.

The two arrested person involved in the kidnapping were identified as Self-Style Finance Secretary John Thadou @ Seikholen Changloi@ Haopu @ Raju, 32, son of late Amang Changloi of Khopibung and Md Ajit Khan, 29, son of Md Samat Shah of Khurai Khomidok Imphal east district.

The press released further mentioned that the two arrested cadres along with the rescued person were handed over to the Senapati Police.

On the other hand, according to the reliable police source Paokhohang Kilong was kidnapped by the cadres of the KRA (U) who are engaged in a Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the administration, while the youth was participating at a diwali dice game on November 5.

Police source further mentioned that on November 7 morning at around 8 am the kidnappers contacted family members of the youth over the phone and demanded a sum of rupees three crore for his safe release and the concerned police subsequently took up a Suo Moto case yesterday.

Sources also mentioned that the father of the kidnapped youth who was rescued by the Imphal west Police Commando is a special contractor.
